No longer required to install WeatherTrac-II/DOS ensemble. New PREDICT function in WtView under MISC menu. WtView includes 25%-800% zoom, scroll, filtering, enhancement, false coloring, file split to floppy disk for "sneaker lan" transport, bitmap and palette support of standard Windows clipboard to easily export imagery into other Windows apps, pixel query tool with lat/long, pixel temperature, bearing and distance to station location. Units in either statute or nautical miles. Temperature in either F,C,K or R. Point-to-point grid overlay adjustment. Grid overlays storable as Windows metafiles for fast redraw of archived imagery without recalculating overlays. WtAnim: First release of WtAnim WIN32 Animation software. Initial dialog defines first animation loop. Number of frames is limited only by available memory. Forward/backward, adjustable interframe delay and end of loop delay. By animating entire image, loop can be scrolled/panned while animating. Supports multiple simultaneous animation loops. Supports automatic update of loops as new imagery is captured by WtCap. Will update loops while minimized. WtView BETA V0.0 ---------------- BETA release of WIN32 analysis software included. WtView will read .WTC files created by either WeatherTrac-II DOS capture TSR or WtCap WIN32 Capture Control. Certain auxiliary functions are dependent upon installation of WeatherTrac-II DOS Analysis software on same drive as WtCap. This dependency will be removed in the final release, but is required in the current BETA release. The auxiliary functions affected are PREDICT, EDIT SATELLITE DATA, and IMPORT TBUS/NASA2LINE. Introducing WtCap ----------------- WtCap is the replacement software for the DOS based WeatherTrac WT.COM background capture software, designed to run under 32-bit Microsoft Windows. Multichannel-Multithreaded 32-bit Control ----------------------------------------- WtCap can be used to control either 1, 2 or 3 APT/WEFAX demodulator and receiver sets, all simultaneously capturing and independently scheduled. Each of these 3 channels runs as a set of independent threads, which are non-cooperatively independently timesliced and multitasked. Although all three channels can function simultaneoulsy and independently, WtCap is used to configure each channel one-at-a-time; as a channel is selected, all subsequent configuration requests apply only to that channel, until another channel is selected. While any channel is selected, the other channels continue to function as last configured. Compatible with DOS based WeatherTrac-II Analysis ------------------------------------------------- The resulting .WTC image files that are captured to disk are compatible with the original DOS based WeatherTrac software. The only difference is that WtCap now buffers image data incrementally to disk, as acquired, instead of monolithically to disk, as with the DOS based version. This means that, as imagery is acquired in real-time, the target .wtc file grows incrementally during image acquisition. This eliminates dependency on a 'large' EMS memory buffer. (All you need to do is have enough memory to run Windows-95 comfortably--about 16MB ). This also has eliminated the arbitrary 1600 line limit on APT and HF-FAX images. With WtCap, there is no arbitrary line limit; image length is limited only by disk free space. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW FEATURES IN V2.0 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Separately licensed version now supports Window-NT. (Note: Windows-95 licensees can field upgrade to NT version; contact sales for upgrade pricing and procedure.) INSTALL program detects installation under NT, and installs new KERNAL mode driver (wtracdio.sys). Driver is registered for automatic startup upon NT BOOT. Upon installation, if user does not reboot system, the wtracdio service can be manually started via Control Panel:Devices, or from the DOS CONSOLE command prompt via "net start wtracdio" B/W Sense Invert feature added to reverse black/white sense for HF-FAX. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW FEATURES IN V1.42 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bug fix; Preamp control state button fixed. Preamp, speaker, and squelch persistence fixed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW FEATURES IN V1.41 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bug fix; Control dialog exit paths consolidated to modify standard dialog escape processing; previous versions did not persist dialog state if user initiated any of several dialog escape paths. In V1.41, all dialog exit paths (ALT-F4, ESCAPE, CLOSE, EXIT BUTTON) are verified and dialog Scheduler state is made persistent. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW FEATURES IN V1.40 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the first release with RTTY demodulation capability. The LINE OUTPUT audio from an HF receiver is connected to the aux. audio connector on the AM/FM demodulator board, just as with HF-FAX. RTTY is a new configuration on the Configure menu. This first RTTY release supports Baudot RTTY between approx. 45 and 160 Baud. Autobaud selection is provided, and the default alphabet is ITA2. To configure RTTY, you must enable the Diagnostics on the Configure menu. An "AutoFAX" mode will automatically switch between RTTY demod and HF-FAX demodulation when the FAX starttone is detected, and switch back to RTTY when the stoptone is detected. Demodulated RTTY data with framerate errors exceeding 20% are automatically discarded as garbage. The Options menu now includes the choice to enable/disable the post processing feature described below under V1.3. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW FEATURES IN V1.31 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Storage Management section on the Options menu now includes a Minimum size parameter, which will cause the system to automatically purge any (new) image files smaller than the specified number of kBytes. This is useful for filtering out WEFAX "Product Unavailable" messages, or very short APT passes. To disable this feature, and save all images no matter how small, simply specify 0 as the minimum file size. The Scheduler initialization from the Registry has been updated, so that the system will automatically reconfigure itself to the last active Schedule upon initialization without re-entering the Schedule menu. The LogFile function has been updated to log purged files, including files purged because they were too small to save, as well as files purged because they were the oldest file on a path that had reached a specified diskfull condition(too many files or not enough disk free space remaining.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW FEATURES IN V1.3 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- A 'hook' for optional post-processing has been added. After each image has been captured, the WtCap directory is searched for PROCFILx.BAT, where 'x' is either 1,2 or 3 for adapter channel 1,2 or 3. Each of up to 3 channels can have their own unique processing file, PROCFIL1.BAT, PROCFIL2.BAT, and PROCFIL3.BAT. The WtCap directory is usually c:\Program Files\Softworks_Inc\WeatherTrac, or alternatively, C:\PROGRA~1\SOFTWO~1\WEATHE~1 If the PROCFILx.BAT file corresponding to the channel is found, a process is spawned which runs PROCFILx.BAT with the just captured .WTC complete pathfilename as an argument. For example, to automatically convert the just captured .WTC file to a .PCX file, the WeatherTrac Utility WTC2PCX.EXE can be run in PROCFILE.BAT as follows: c:\wtrac\wtc2pcx %1 c:\pcx This will run the utility WTC2PCX.EXE, located on C:\WTRAC, convert the just captured .WTC file to a .PCX file, and store the resulting .PCX file on c:\pcx, using the same filename as the source .WTC file, with extension .pcx. The PROCFILx.BAT file can contain additional processing, as required. For example, to delete the .WTC file after conversion, add the line del %1 after all processing. Note that postprocessing is managed by its own thread, so that acquisition of the next image is not delayed by the postprocessing routine. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW FEATURES IN V1.2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maintenance improvement to enhance registration dialog performance.
