WeatherTrac Announces Availability of Stabilized Platform for Marine WEFAX

Extends Marine Weather Options for Shipboard Reception

March 1, 1997 -- Allentown, PA. WeatherTrac Industries announced today that a stabilized platform option for Marine WEFAX was available for customer orders. Joint development, testing and evaluation with an OEM platform supplier was started in September 1996, resulting in a successful configuration option for stabilized Marine WEFAX reception. This option extends the current WEFAX offering from fixed basestation with solid dishes, transportable basestation with split dishes and ring mounts, and tactical groundstation with collapsible mesh dish, to stabilized shipboard reception.

With this option added to a WeatherTrac APT system, additional WEFAX coverage from GOES-8, GOES-9, GMS-5, METEOSAT-6 and GOMS/ELEKTRO provide round the globe WEFAX capability on 3 of the 4 major oceans. When this latest option is coupled with WeatherTrac's multi-channel reception option, scheduling conflicts are no longer a problem, because WEFAX, APT, and even HF-FAX can be simultaneously captured on a single Windows-95 or Windows-NT based system-unattended, automatically, in the background, while animation, analysis, charting or other applications are being used.

The stabilized platform option includes the 3-axis servo stabilized platform, dish, feed, downconverter, radome, and coax cable assembly, with the following specifications:
