January 15, 1997 -- Allentown, PA. WeatherTrac Industries announced today that a second order destined for the Bangladesh Navy was shipped complete, on budget, and on time. Largely through the efforts of their in-country dealer, ORBITRADE PTE LTD., this second order was obtained as a follow-on to a similar order shipped in 1994. Both orders were for complete APT/WEFAX/HF-FAX desktop systems, included in-country installation support and training. The first system is a single channel system located at the NHQ Complex near Dhaka, and includes background capture capability, while the second system is located at the Chittagong Naval Base, and includes dual channel simultaneous background capture and scheduling.
Installation and training support was completed on the first installed system when commissioned in 1994, and will be completed on the second system after the shipment has arrived in Dhaka and preliminary installation wiring has been completed. The system was provided complete, including antennas, cables, receivers, demodulators, computer, software, monitor, printer, and appropriate 220VAC/50 hz power conditioning and cordage for the local Bangladesh power mains. The system includes the latest version of WtCap for Windows-95, and includes drag&drop support for printing and viewing WeatherTrac images.
Concurrently with processing this second order, and after having used the first system for over two years, the customer reported some sudden CPU difficulties in September of 1996. When the unit was returned to the USA for evaluation, the problem turned out to be a computer virus which had been introduced in Bangladesh. The system was easily scrubbed and returned to working condition in short order, and new anti-virus procedures implemented. This out of warranty 'repair' service was provided to the Bangladesh Navy at no charge, including temporary import/export handling and shipping.
