The OMNI-PLWFX Remote Antenna is an adaptation of a flat panel quadrant antenna for WEFAX reception. It has been adapted for use with WEFAX reception systems by incorporating a 1691MHz-137.5 MHz downconverter. Due to the high gain of the antenna coupled with the downconverter, the antenna can be positioned more than 30 meters from the terminal. This allows the terminal to be used indoors even when no clear line-of-sight to the satellite is available. The compact nature of the folding design also makes the antenna ideal for tactical applications.
An integral frame, with elevation markings, allows convenient positioning and alignment on horizontal surfaces. The frame can be ballasted or bolted down for more permanent installations, even against walls. Brackets are included for pole mounting of the frame. Tough UV-resistant packaging allows exposure to extreme environmental conditions such as heavy rain, hail, ice and prolonged exposure to sunlight. The remote antenna can therefore handle most external mounting and environmental requirements.
The included carrybag is designed to stow the antenna and frame assembly and all standard accessories. In addition, the bag has a protective pocket for securing the accessories and remoting cable underneath the antenna. Velcro fasteners are used to assist cable handling and securing.
The antenna is now also available with a dedicated pole mount option. This option allows simple installation for fixed or semi-fixed applications.
